Resumo: | The main objective of this research was to collect and analyze key vulnerabilities that hinder the development of tourism in Port Market of Cuiabá, in the perception of social actors in place. Specifically aimed to: a) Verify if the location Market Port exerts tourist attraction b) Check if the prostitution zone on the outskirts of the existing market presents obstacles to the flow of tourists in the study area, c) Verify if the presence of addicts in Market neighborhoods, presents obstacles to the flow of tourists in the study area; d) Assess the conditions of sanitation in the area of Port Market and its surrounding e) Inquire about expected actions to promote tourism in Port Market, Cuiabá considering preparing for the World Cup in 2014. The methodological orientation of the research was a qualitative and quantitative approach, employing the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD), which enables identification and construction of different subjects and collective discourses, through the analysis of individual material and the extraction of the core ideas (IC), composing themselves with the contents of similar core ideas, synthetic discourses that express the social representations of a collectivity (Lefèvre & Lefèvre, 2003). To collect the data we applied a different form for each segment: civil and military police, employees of the City of Cuiabá in crowded Port Market, Market traders and residents of the Port District, Market customers in shopping situationº The results indicate that a significant portion of respondents stigmatize and segregate poignantly prostitutes and addicts who roam the act and its surroundings. They are critical of the abandonment of the site, above all, with regard to conditions of precarious sanitation of Market area and vicinity, a traditional space, birthplace of the city of Cuiabá, not sparing harsh criticism of the omission of the public authorities and local supra locations. However, despite the critical points indicated, the majority of respondents considered the Port Market a place that attracts tourists visiting Cuiabá and yet a significant number of survey reveals expectations of good structural and aesthetic improvements to the Port Market as well as the city as a whole, with its benefits to increase the flow of tourists in Port Market. |
