Resumo: The present work aims to find out, in the foreground, if there is a causal link between the existing unemployment in the world and the use of technology, especially in the currently experienced era of Revolution 4.0. Using the inductive method and based on a documental and bibliographical analysis, the study focuses on the statistical data of unemployment and investigates its reasons. Thus, in the first chapter, the relationship between the advancement of technology and the replacement of human labor is verified, in order, in the second chapter, to analyze the reality of people who, for this reason, are discarded from the world of work. Without ignoring the existence of precarious work, caused by an oppressive society, the study invites us to go deeper into the problem, analyzing who is on this side of precariousness. Considering that technological unemployment is a global phenomenon that impacts all of humanity, it reflects on the way in which this problem has been faced, even considering the possibility that, for some, omission is an alternative. Thus, in the third chapter, with the purpose of maintaining hope, mainly in the effectiveness of human rights, the principle of protection and fraternity are highlighted as beacons to reach, through alterity, people discarded from the world of work. The objective is to expand the scope of the principle of protection traditionally used in labor law in order to guarantee, to workers discarded from the world of work, the existential minimum. Finally, the study describes some measures that have been implemented or studied to mitigate the harmful effects of technological unemployment.
