Resumo: Engagement at Work is a new construct in organizational research. The term has an approach identified in the field of organizational behavior and represents a communion of physical, emotional and cognitive energies committed by the individual, in a lasting way, in his work role. Engaged employees are more likely to face daily challenges with assertiveness and are resilient to the stressors, pressures and adversities of the work environment while remaining focused on their tasks. The engagement at work constitutes, therefore, a possibility of measuring the worker's involvement with the performance of his work. The work has gone through configurations that transform it at every moment, in a constant adaptation to new technologies and in the relationships it maintains with the individuals who are part of it. Therefore, the objective of this research was to measure the degree of engagement of effective teachers of basic education in Cuiabá/MT and to assess how much such a construct would contribute to understanding the process and dynamics of their emotional health in their work space. For this, four instruments were used: a sociodemographic and professional questionnaire, an engagement at work scale - Utrecht Work Engagement Scale – (UWES-9), a Burnout Assessment Scale - Burnout Assessment Tool - BAT and a Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale - Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale - DASS – 21. In the SPSS statistical program, version 24.0, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation and ANOVA were performed. It was observed that the correlations were significant and negative between engagement and DASS-21 and BAT. Engagement at work can act as a protective factor in the quality of work life related to the emotional health of professionals. The results of Anova, whether in its direct or interaction effect, ensure that the engagement construct contributes significantly to the stability of emotional health in the work environment.
