As the demarcation of indigenous lands, there in the minds of the population not India the idea of "too much land for too few Indians", forgetting about the social, symbolic and ritual ties that many indigenous people have with their respective biophysical environments. The processes of occupation of a determined area are linked to knowledge, cultural and symbolic practices that breed in the process of territorial identities, so apply the notion of place that is expressed in the different values that a social group attributes to different aspects of their environment. For indigenous people, land means much more than simple way of subsistence. It is the support of social life and is directly connected to the system of beliefs and knowledge. It is not only a natural resource, but also a socio-cultural appeal. This study will follow the formation of Amary Village, located in the southern portion of the Xingu Indigenous Park / Mato Grosso in order to demonstrate how to give the processes of formation of the Indian Territory.
