Resumo: This research is aiming at analyzing the relations between the teaching of History and Heritage Education through field classes carried out with high school students in the Western Frontier of Mato Grosso. In order to build a historical-cultural visitation itinerary, on the route from Cuiabá to the city of Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, this work develops a study on the history of Mato Grosso in the Colonial Period, from the second half of the 18th century, highlighting the main places of memory of this region of Mato Grosso, protected by the state and federal historical heritage. To this end, three places of visitation were chosen as privileged points of memory, which, in themselves, tell a good part of the colonial history of Mato Grosso: Fazenda Jacobina, founded in 1769; Marco do Jaurú, located in the city of Cáceres and ancient Vila Maria do Paraguay, founded in 1778. The tour leads up to the ancient capital of Mato Grosso, Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, founded in 1752. These places retain traces of a period of dispute between Portuguese and Spanish over colonial areas on the western border of Mato Grosso. Based on the historiography of Mato Grosso which is a reference in the regional study, as well as a diversified bibliography on heritage education and the use of field classes in history teaching, we seek to create a link between the knowledge of local history, the classroom work and visits to places considered sources of historical research in this state. Therefore, we created a historical-cultural visitation itinerary, which will be transformed into a final product to serve as a guide for primary school teachers. This intended analysis is achieved through experiences acquired over several tours, with the students, to the places studied in this research.
