Resumo:	The objective of this research is to ethnographically map the meanings of the Carnival of Cuiabá from the perspective of the Bloco Tradição do Araés. We will analyze the carnival of Cuiabá, firstly, from the dialogues, disputes and conflicts throughout the year 2016 for the construction of the carnival of 2017, passing through the city of Cuiabá; and, secondly, the performance on the parade day as the end of the cycle, especially. We will base the analysis qualitatively on in-depth interviews with members of the Bloco, participant observation throughout the process and description of the specificities of the carnival of the Tradição do Araés.
