Susceptibilidade a antimicrobianos e detecção do gene de resistência bla KPC2 em isolados de Escherichia coli de urina de cães e gatos

Resumo: | Escherichia coli is a bacterium of the Enterobacteriaceae family, considered one of the most common agents of urinary tract infections in cat and dogs with highly resistant isolates. The objective of this work was to determine the antimicrobial susceptibility profile and the detection of the Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase type 2 resistance gene in E. coli isolates from the urine of dogs and cats in the metropolitan region of Cuiabá. The isolates came from 388 urines received and processed at the Microbiology Laboratory of the Veterinary Hospital of the UFMT from domestic animals (dogs and cats), between the years 2019 to 2022. Of these samples, E. coli was found in 56 of the 388 samples of urine, 46 dogs and 10 cats. For the antimicrobial susceptibility test, 7 classes of antimicrobials were tested and classified according to their resistance profile. In addition, the was also detected. Of the 56 samples with E. coli, 43 (76,78%) were classified as multidrug resistant, 9 of which were isolated from cats and 34 from dogs. The antibiotic that showed the highest resistance index was Ciprofloxacin 76,78% (43/56). Regarding the bla KPC2 gene, it was detected in 19 (33,92%) of the isolates, 5 cats and 14 dogs, which reaffirms the importance of diagnostic tests associated with treatment and the rational use of antibiotics in companion animals. |
