Resumo: ABSTRACT: In this historical thesis, the main objective is to understand how the role of women in the internationalization processes of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) was characterized between the years 1970 and 2016. The specific objectives were: I) to investigate women in internationalization at UFMT; II) to analyze the internationalization implemented at UFMT, with emphasis on female performance; III) to identify the profile of participants in international mobilities promoted by UFMT, and, VI) to research the movement assumed by the female academic community of UFMT. The sources of the research were: legislation, scientific articles, electronic sites, official documents collected from the institutional collection of different sectors of the university and oral testimonies. Methodologically, the research is bibliographical and documental, from the analysis of institutional documents. To better understand the collected sources, interviews were conducted with UFMT servants, adopting procedures common to oral history. The contributions of Pedro Benedito Dorileo (1976) and Gabriel Novis Neves (2022) added to the composition of the institutional memory. To understand the path of women in higher education and internationalization, the works of Jane Soares de Almeida (2004), Michelle Perrot (2007), Dermeval Saviani (2010), Jane Knight (2020), Marília Morosini (2020), among other authors. Jacques Le Goff and Pierre Nora (1974), Michel de Certeau (1982), Peter Burke (1992), among others, have taught the paths of historical investigation and the meticulous and attentive collection of documentary sources. Paul Thompson (1978) and José Carlos Sebe Bom Meihy (1996) guided the use of techniques to compose the course of collection and analysis of oral sources. The thesis points out that the participation of women in the internationalization of UFMT started in a timid way and advanced from internal and external mobilization movements, driven sometimes by personal desire, sometimes by institutionalized actions. At the same time, internationalization in the time frame studied, moved slowly, given that the UFMT, until 2016, still sought to consolidate a policy for internationalization at the institutional level. As a result, the research points out that female movements for internationalization were triggered at UFMT, however, there was not always institutional support or incentives for the promotion of international mobility accessible to women. The sources demonstrate the necessary policy of institutional internationalization, including the gender equity agenda.
