Resumo: Ecosystem services are benefits that serve human beings for the sake of well-being. The economic value of an environmental resource is the measurement of the benefits offered by ecosystem services. Thus, the general objective of the research is to identify the social and environmental value of the Center for Medicine and Research of Wild Animals (CEMPAS) of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), Cuiabá campus. The specific objectives are: to characterize CEMPAS; estimate the willingness to pay (DAP) of the cuiabana population and region; and conduct a cost and benefit analysis of the site. UFMT's CEMPAS, campus Cuiabá, is a place rich in biodiversity and non-formal environmental education because it has approximately 800 specimens of wild animals. The study's sampling process is non-probabilistic, with 700 respondents through Google Forms. The method chosen to obtain the economic value is the contingent valuation method with referendum technique with bidding games. The function used to estimate the willingness to pay is a log-linear model in the income from logistic regression. Thus, the willingness to pay is R $ 2.98, however, 86.85% of respondents would pay at least R $ 5.00 for entry to the site. The significant variables to the logit model are age; has no link with UFMT; mixed ethnic origin; the interviewee would return to visit, in case the place is reopened for visitation; and number of people per family. The estimated benefits are approximately half of the partial maintenance costs, in 2019, of CEMPAS, it is worth mentioning that the measured benefits are the use values of the place, that is, if the value of existence of the medicine center were estimated, the benefits would be higher costs. In this way, the entry fee would cover the variable costs of the site and minimize the economic deficit.
