Resumo: |
This dissertation aimed to investigate the psychosocial aspects related to the migration process, with a focus on the migration of Haitians to Brazil in the 2010s, specifically on issues related to work and acculturation of these migrants. For this purpose, three independent but complementary studies were conducted to better understand this migratory flow. Study 1, entitled "Psychology and Migration: A Systematic Review of Brazilian Literature," conducted a systematic literature review with the overall goal of investigating how Brazilian psychology research characterizes the migration of foreigners to Brazil in terms of migratory flows and constructs studied. In Study 2, entitled "Migration, Cultural Adaptation, and Work: The Situation of Haitians in Mato Grosso do Sul," we sought to describe and analyze reports of the working conditions to which Haitian migrants are subjected in Brazil. A qualitative study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with a sample of Haitian migrant workers residing in a municipality in Mato Grosso do Sul. Finally, Study 3, "Indicators of Work and Education as Proxies for the Acculturation of Haitian Migrants in Brazil," investigated the dimensions of acculturation of Haitian migrants in Brazil through the analysis of official data on work and education, referring to the historical series from 2011-2020. For this purpose, we sought to identify indicators regarding the dimensions of permanence and the integration and marginalization dyad of these migrants in the analyzed data.
