Resumo: This research was developed with the Postgraduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul – Três Lagoas Campus, inserted in the research line “Education, Childhood and Diversities”. The investigation aimed to understand what are the conceptions of playing in Kindergarten, specifically in daycare. To this end, they are discussed in theses and dissertations, produced in Brazilian Postgraduate Education Programs. For data collection, we used the BDTD – Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations as an exclusive source, as it is configured as a complete database with secure information. For this, the period circumscribed of 1999 to 2018 was used for works search, justified for marking two fundamental moments in the construction of the history of Brazilian Early Childhood Education, namely: the year 1999 when the first version of the DCNEI – National Curriculum Guidelines for Early Childhood Education and 2018 with the approval of the texts that make up the BNCC – Common National Curriculum Base, today a document that has guided the pedagogical practices of Early Childhood Education. Thus, the present investigation is framed as a qualitative research of the state of knowledge type that, for data collection, used the following descriptors: play(s), play(s), playfulness/playfulness, toy, games, daycare, nursery, early childhood education and early childhood education, in a crossed and isolated way. In the selection and organization of the works found, the final number of four productions that met all the established criteria was reached, thus composing the material for analysis. From the analysis, it was possible to observe that there is little research involving playing, especially in daycare, and the existing works focus on playing, however, the subjects are children aged between 3 and 5 years. The scarcity of research is evidenced by the small number of found works and their distribution in only two regions; these are data that denounce the lack of study with a locus at the daycare level, denoting a certain devaluation with regard to playing in the space of institutions that care for very early childhood. Keywords: Importance of Play. State of Knowledge. Play in the Daycare.
