The research addresses the influence of cultural expression on contemporary literature in Mato Grosso do Sul, considering its identity characteristics and the formative elements present in the region's diverse social contexts. Initially, the social nature of memory and history processes is discussed, highlighting their collective construction and their relationship with individual and collective identity. The study delves into the analysis of the discursive strategies used to justify the division of the State, highlighting the complexity in the construction of regional identity. The dissertation also investigates contemporary literary production, highlighting the cultural and identity diversity present in the works. The specific objectives include the analysis of theories that permeate the concepts of memory, identity, literature and society in the context of Mato Grosso do Sul literature, in addition to exploring the implications of cultural diversity in regional representation in contemporary literature. Furthermore, it is proposed to develop didactic sequences based on literary analyzes of the works, correlating them with the memory and identity of Mato Grosso do Sul. The methodological path adopted was based on the bibliographic method, using relevant theoretical texts to support the analyzes and reflections carried out throughout the research. Five works and five authors are analyzed in more depth, and based on these analyses, four didactic sequences were created to facilitate the insertion and debate of our literature for students from Mato Grosso do Sul. By way of conclusion, we observed throughout this dissertation that literature helped in the process of division and in the continuous defense of our identity. With the analyzes of contemporary literature undertaken here, we can affirm that it still plays this role. And if we propose a decoloniality that is configured as a power to reflect and modify fixed structures with regard to the teaching of literature, acting, therefore, from the critical perspective of education, it is our role as educators and researchers to propose a defense that rescues and embraces the historical pains of this State. Teaching this disobedient literature, with practices that exercise abandonment, as described by Pessanha, transformative and libertarian practices in defense of bell hooks, enthusiastic by Paulo Freire, is essential.
