Um olhar ecocrítico para a educação ambiental: a contribuição da poética de Manoel de Barros

Resumo: In this research we try to investigate the human-nature relationship in literacy based upon the dialog between literature and environmental education, being a rich space for a critical, human and individual awareness formation in socio-environmental field. This proposal came from the need of studies concerning environmental problems reflection, in order to provide solutions that may reduce the odds addressed to socio-environmental issues. So that this work is based upon critical framework of environmental education, as well as ecocriticism studies, that deliver critical and problem solving widening, concerning the relation between literature and nature in literacy context. In this way, theoretical and methodological approaches in the present work allow a different view to environmental issue. This thesis is organized in two chapters and final considerations, as well as the introduction. In the first chapter, starting efforts focus on building a theoretical path on environmental education, where we perform a retrospective view about aspects that we have been considered important for its context in Brazil and around the world. We also discuss briefly about the conferences and academic presentations that stood out to propagate and spread its principles. Moreover, we brought the understanding issue, as well as the need for an open environmental education addressed to other sensitivities, other feelings in a relation connected with the environment, for the development of an ecological consciousness that comes from environmental sensibility.We also presents theoretical approach of literacy manifestation of ecocriticism. The second chapter discusses reading and analysis of Manoel de Barros Poetry that encompasses nature theme, including considerations about human-nature relationship, enhancing the way his poetry reaffirms the importance of “useless beings” and their communion with natural world, such as a suitable place to foster sensibility and environmental consciousness. Thus, this is a bibliographical research that was conducted by qualitative methodology. The research corpus is composed by a group of literature texts provided from Manoel de Barros work. The material was sorted by considering environmental theme in his literary work, so that we report the use of “Poesia Completa” and “Memórias inventadas” in this study. The following results were found after investigations: Manoel de Barros poetry allows communion with natural world, providing another way to understand the world, based on the redefinition of feelings in relation to the planet, being committed to alterity. It is connected to environmental education framework, once his work is powerful, as a sensitization tool, by creating new feelings of rapprochement between human and nature, starting with an ethical relationship, with care, showing other manners of being and existing with nature. By comparing himself to trees, birds, “negligible” beings, he legitimizes the creation of an inventive language where nature communicates, with life, voice and expressiveness, and allows us to rethink and stablish a closer and non-hierarchical connection with natural world, in order to ignore the limits between them, where being tree, or being in a state of; is having a nature bathe from delicacy and merger between different beings.
