Resumo: |
The National Defense Policy (PND) recommends that the Brazilian Navy (MB) increase its presence in the waterways, especially in the Amazon River and Paraguay-Paraná system basins. The exploitation, use of waters, and management of water resources in shared waters generate disputes, tensions, and political interactions between sovereign states. The Paraguay River crosses five sovereign states and is used as a natural boundary for border definitions. The main objective of this article was to describe how the Brazilian Navy, through the 6th Naval District Command, acts in the international waters of the Paraguay River. For this, the methodology employed consisted of an analysis of the literature on limits, frontier, borderland, Defence and National Security. The study observed that the performance of the 6 th Naval District Command, in the Paraguay River´s international Waters intensifies the State´s presence and contributes to national efense and security. |
