Resumo: The use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is growing as legislative changes regarding its use are updated. Seen as a transitional fuel, there is interest in projects that study the feasibility of applying LPG compared to other energy sources. This work proposes a multicriteria decision model to assess the potential use of LPG in electrical power generators, ranking fuels based on a decision maker's preferences. The FITradeoff method was employed, proving to be an effective and practical tool for solving various multicriteria decision problems. Through Value Focused Thinking (VFT), values were extracted from two decision makers individually, and 6 evaluation criteria were selected: operating cost, investment cost, maintenance cost, stock exchange, availability of qualified labor for corrective maintenance, and CO2 emission level. The decision makers are an entrepreneur planning to acquire a 150 KVA standby power generator and an engineer in power generators. Ultimately, following each decision maker's preferences, both achieved the same result: diesel ranked first in the fuel ranking for generators, followed by LPG and natural gas, respectively. After completing the sensitivity analysis, the model's robustness was validated, and the result was confirmed through separate application to two decision makers.
