Human actions in the environment have brought about important changes from a geological perspective, and the existence of a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene, is currently being studied. The implications of the Anthropocene affect different areas of knowledge, and in particular Law, which needs to respond to the current environmental crisis, given that different human rights are affected, especially the human right to the environment. Thus, it becomes relevant to study the construction and protection of the human right to the environment and in particular the protection of the Pantanal Biome, a trinational transboundary biome of importance for biodiversity and for the ecosystem services it provides to human beings and other living beings. In this sense, the theme of this research is the right to a balanced environment and the protection of the cross-border Pantanal biome in the Anthropocene era and has as a research problem the following question: how is the legal protection of the Pantanal in its tri-national cross-border character in light of of human rights and the paradigm shift required in the new epoch of the Anthropocene? The general objective of the work is to understand the legal protection of the Pantanal in its trinational cross-border character based on human rights and to identify the paradigm shift required by the new geological era, the Anthropocene, and this objective is divided into specific objectives, namely: to analyze the paradigm shifts presented by the Anthropocene, verify the main manifestations of the environmental crisis in the Pantanal and what are the ways of decreasing biodiversity and ecosystem degradation, understand the connection between human rights and the environment, identify the principles of human rights environmental rights and what are the environmental human rights that affect the protection of the biome, verify the elements of sustainable development and the 2030 agenda and what are the changes in economic, social, environmental factors to achieve sustainability and analyze the international, regional and environmental protection regime constitution of the three countries and the cooperation mechanisms action between countries. The research will be carried out using the descriptive, deductive and bibliographical-documentary method, through the study of articles and international, national and regional legal instruments.
