Resumo: The objective of the present work was to examine actions for orientation / training of mathematics teachers developed through Campanha de Aperfeiçoamento e Difusão do Ensino Secundário - CADES, in Ceará, from 1953 to 1964, as well as the role of Lauro de Oliveira Lima in that context, under the perspective of the history of mathematics education. This research comprises the Mapping of Training and Performance of Teachers who teach / taught mathematics in Brazil, conducted by the research group Oral History and Mathematics Education, GHOEM and employed methodology based on cultural history and oral history. The work consisted in interviewing seven people, including teachers, students and witnesses to the actions investigated, as well as researching information published by newspapers in Ceará, such as O Nordeste, Gazeta de Notícias, Correio do Ceará and Ipu em Jornal. Some records found in archives, as well as textualizations of interviews archived in the Hemera digital platform were also used as sources. Through the interconnection of all such sources, we reconstructed the trajectory of CADES in Ceará, and found that it displayed aspects that differed from other known CADES experiences. This specificity resulted from the coordination of Lauro de Oliveira Lima and consequent application of the psychogenetic method in the courses. As result, the education provided by CADES in Ceará had a significant impact on mathematics teachers and students, influencing their knowledge and practices, which was evidenced by accounts about the use of different teaching methodologies, especially for mathematics.
