Resumo: The effects of soaking conditions variation of continuous annealing on the mechanical properties of interstitial free steel stabilized with titanium were evaluated in this work. The steel was produced in industrial scale according to the standards EN 10130:1991+A1:1998 (european) or NBR 5915:2002 (brazilian) being processed on nine different soaking conditions where the parameters temperature and time weremodified. Besides the variations of these parameters, others deserved special attention: the chemical composition and the heating rate, analyzed at laboratory scale. After the processing of the material in industrial and laboratory scale, the mechanical properties were evaluated, as well as the microstructures. The results showed that, among the parameters studied, the soaking temperature and the chemical composition, with special enphasis on titanium, were those wich had the biggest influence on the mechanical properties. The variations of soaking time and heating rate didnt exercise so much influence on the mechanical properties. With the variations of soakingtemperature chosen, new conditions of the materials processing were found, which can lead to the reduction of the production cost without affecting the mechanical properties.
