Resumo: | The way that iron ore product prices are determined has changed drastically in the last few years. The industry is going through an adjustment period and the old benchmarks that used to determine prices are no longer applied. Volatility has taken over the market, impacting all the production and sales planning for the main iron ore producers in the same way as for steel mills. From this scenario, this paper targeted the development of an iron ore price forecast model adjusted to the new trends of iron ore price definition and its commercialization. Having as a focus the analysis of the balance between supply and demand of global iron ore production and industry production cost, each of these topics has been individually evaluated in consideration of its effect on iron ore pricing. As a result, a model has been developed that allows a better definition of short and longterm planning, by applying a new methodology of price forecast in line with the new market conditionals. |
