The objective of this work is to analyze the characteristics that contribute to the attractiveness of schools in the Educational System of Belo Horizonte. For this, we built a School Attractiveness Indicator from data on requests for teacher removals provided by the Municipal Education Department of Belo Horizonte (SMED-PBH) for the years 2014 to 2017. We sought to verify the relationship between the school attractiveness and characteristics of the school and its neighborhood. For this quantitative analysis we used data that characterize the quality of school provision, school results, and socioeconomic characteristics and neighborhood services. The survey results showed a strong correlation between school attractiveness, performance, socioeconomic status of schools and neighborhood characteristics such as the HDI-M and surrounding public facilities. Therefore, understanding the relationship between the characteristics of schools and attractiveness contributes to a better understanding of disparities in teacher mobility within the Municipal Education System of Belo Horizonte and can help in the search for possible solutions to the problem.
