Resumo: The Quadrilátero Ferrífero region was consolidated as formed by the mining territories. The mineral relevance began with first alluvial gold discoveries gold still in the eighteenth century. For centuries, it has been witnessed the expansion of the extraction methods and even mineral diversification, being actually, the iron ore the most exploited commodity. The area of research involves considerable part of the Serra do Gandarela which lies in the eastern portion of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero, for once, has large mineral deposits. However, it also presents the best conservation, with emphasis on biodiversity and geodiversity. Moreover, it has excellent quality and quantity of water that supplies local communities and part of the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. Also, surrounding the Serra do Gandarela there are communities that make use of territories traditionally appropriate for local cultural activities and economic production. Faced with the riches cited, the region became the scene of territorial disputes that may develop into conflicts between actors seeking to exploit versus those who deprive the conservation. Given the accelerated dynamics in research, we used the methodology of coremas for the representation of spatial analysis. The Coremas are representations that go beyond the construction of maps or drawings , they are forms of exposure of geography concepts sustained by epistemological bases . So a COREMA becomes more than the location of an element or phenomenon , enabled to demonstrate the spatial transformations and the dynamic between the fixes and flows pointed by Milton Santos. The result was the production of coremas that assisted in the strategic perception of the territories and in identifying possible conflicts. Such coremas must be used in a complementary manner to the maps, so as to provide a reading in greater detail of the spatial organization.
