Resumo: | At high level volleyball, the athletes are inclined to show great risks todevelop injuries caused by the increase of physical, psychological and social stress during the season. Professional athletes are submitted to long and intense training, that can difficult the recovery process. The way athletes notice and deal with stress and recovery process can be related with the injury causes. The aim of this research was to analyze the factors stress and recovery on high-performance volleyball athletes during six different training moments (C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and C6), and relate them to the occurrence of injury throughout six months competitive season. 18 adults category volleyball athletes were tested, with mean age of 26,44 (±5,66). They did daily training conducted by the technical committee and participated in the National Male Volleyball 2010/2011. We used the RESTQ-76 Sport questionnaire to analyze the factors stress and recovery, Borgs scale CR-10 for perceived exertion after training and registration of injuries. We monitored the number, durations of training and Competitions and the outcome of games. During the season, there were 64 injuries, among them 15 from the mechanism of trauma and 49 for overuse. We did not noticed difference of stress and recovery among the several moments of collection for the mechanism of injury by trauma. There were significant differences for the mechanism of injury by overuse for dimension to the overall recovery in the comparison of moments C5-C6 (p=0,003) and for the comparison of dimension of specific recovery times C4-C5 (p=0,000) e C5-C6 (p=0,000). Among the groups that suffered injury, we did not noticed difference of stress and recovery, in every moment of research. A correlation was found between the dimension of the overall stress and the total number of injuries (r=0,84; p=0,033). It was observed that the results obtained in the games wouldprove to be an important factor in the levels of stress and recovery as well as to the occurrence of injuries during the competitive season. |
