Through literature review, the paper presents the conceptual and philosophical analysis of the Sense-Making approach developed by Brenda Dervin for the study of needs and uses of information. This approach offers essential support to reach the structure of information system really focussed on the user. Secondly, it aims at outlining basic guidance to apply this methodology in the Fundação Centro Tecnológico de Minas Gerais CETEC, by means of pilot interviews and analysis of contents, using the same approach. The result shows that it is possible to use the approach. Thus, the technological Information Sector of CETEC has another tool to study its users in order to make suitable its products and services.
