Resumo: This study comprises the present productive context of the automotive industrial company based on the focus about one of these main characteristics, upon the continuous innovation of products associated to strong demanding of productivity process and quality of products. It isimportant for us to study the outcome for the workers coming from conditions originated of this situation, especially with respect to relations between the project of work and the real requirements configured in the situation of work. The research field concentrates in the sector of metallurgy branch of an automotive industry located at region of Belo Horizonte, specifically about the Revision Segment of this sector. The employed methodology is the Ergonomic Analysis of Work EAW (WISNER, 1994;GUÉRIN et al., 2001). It was carried out the analysis of real situations of work at the two following moments: in the first, with products that have been in production for more than six months and, the second, at the moment in which the new product is introduced into a line that produces others wagon models. The objective of the research is to demonstrate the operatory strategies developed by workers performing the activity, in order to attend the demands of industry facing the variabilities of the process, seeking for understand the elements so as to form their competences. To this finality, it was focused the activity of the Reviewer entitled Edge of Line, co-responsible for the correction of quality problems in production of wagons of this automotive industry. It was concluded that the management of variability in this framework, marked by quality goals of difficulty achievement and strong productivity pressure, depends on the permanent updating of competences, which process of construction lines on a complex web of interactions and sharing,situating the collective dimension of work as the main requirement for suitability ofthe work project in this context.
