The main purpose of this research has been to verify the possible relations between civil construction Work and the development and/or enhancement of alcoholism, in order to understand the mediators that explain how the transition from certain work and life conditions to this clinical framework take place. The research has been divided in four stages: ergonomic field observations, surveys development, validation and application, discussions with workers group and individual case studies, by biographical method. The conclusion is that work in civil construction, due to its organization form and to the conditions it provides, can be considered as an important factor (or even decisive) in the development alcoholism in this professional category.
