Resumo: This study aimed to understand accession and perception of mothers while pregnancy such as in their babies first year, also about educational activities developed in the public health services from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais beyond verify oral health care practices. The method was based on a qualitative approach through interviews carried the first two months 2015. It was interviewed 20 mothers living in the area from four health centers. Interviews were recorded and transcripted and its results analyzed by Meaning Core. Three Meaning Core were identified: Participation in educational activities; Valuing information; and Prenatal consultations guided by biomedical attention. It was evident that the personal and family experiences are determinant factors for participation in educational activities promoted by the health team or the care practices in oral health babies. Those activities were relevant to inexperienced mothers. Reports have shown individual professional practices based on biomedical model. The health care reflected maternal experienced peoples orientation that belongs to an informal care network. It suggests the use of peer led education during health education moments conducted among experienced mothers and health professionals. These findings allowed elaboration of a workshop done with personnel and health managers from Belo Horizontes City Hall to present the results of this research such as debate strategies to solve observed issues.
