Resumo: | The present study looks into the contribution made by retextualization towards a better appropriation of text genre, by analyzing the practice of text production elicited by the educational material approved by the PNLD (Educational Material National Program) and pointing out problems in the practice. The aim is to bring up for discussion the questions that underlie written language acquisition in the classroom educational practice in order to identify the extent to which the resulting rhetoricalrelations in the fable and news report genres are needed for achieving coherence between the main text and the retextualizations presented, along with the relations in the textual macrostructure. For such, we used the Rhetorical Structure Theory (RST), a theory developed by North American West Coast functionalists such as Mann & Thompson (1987) and used to describe the rhetorical relations between parts of atext, while showing how such relations are employed so that text producers meet their communicative goals. The corpus used was made up of nine texts written by 9th grade students based on the fable O Lobo e o Cordeiro, three of these texts having been written on basis of the Educational Material Policy (EMP), three were retextualizations of the fable genre for the same genre, and the other three retextualizations of the fable genre for the news report genre. The corpus also includes two analysis of the main text carried out by the researcher and her assistantrespectively. The present research was based on the theoretical foundations of the Text Linguistics and the Rhetoric Structure Theory. The analysis showed a substantial improvement by the 9th grade students after retextualization, regarding text genres and the competencies needed for text production. |
