Resumo: The edentulous individual may have part of the lost functions reestablished with the complete denture (CD). However, morphofunctional modifications may hamper accommodation and stability of the CD. Therefore, even if prothesis rehabilitation is technically a success, the process of individual adaptation can negatively interfere with people's quality of life, leading to social, psychological and physical difficulties. The objective of this study is to investigate the association between PT intervention and Quality of Life Related to Health (HRQoL) and Quality of Life related to Oral Health (OHRQoL), through a scoping review; as well as discuss methodological approaches to the type of study and instruments used; and objective 2: to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of clinical and subjective factors in the use of CDs offered in primary care in the public health service of Belo Horizonte one year after insertion. Of the 851 articles retained for scoping review (article 1), 29 were selected because they met the inclusion criteria. In the analysis of the included studies, it was possible to compile the factors that impacted on the OHRQoL as: sociodemographic aspects, physiological aspects, total prosthesis conditions, technical aspects, time of evaluation and psychological aspects. In addition, it was verified that OHIP-Edent was the most used instrument to evaluate this impact. These factors were studied in the path analysis carried out in article 2, in which it was verified that educational level, user satisfaction and impact profile on oral health had a direct effect on the use of CD in one year. The indirect effect of CD quality and user satisfaction on the use of CD in one year was observed, since this effect was mediated by the impact profile on oral health. In addition, the quality of CD presented an indirect effect on the profile of impact on oral health, mediated by user satisfaction. Rehabilitation with CD impacts HRQoL and OHRQoL, and the use of CD is significantly influenced by direct and indirect action factors.
