Resumo: The great evolution in Information and Communication Technologies in recent decades has transformed the relationship of users with digital tools, resulting in the spread of collaborative tools for data geolocation, both in the production of maps as in disseminating information. In this context, architects and urban planners become potential agents in understanding how these events can influence the processes of occupation and transformation of cities. This study, of qualitative nature, aims to discuss the potential of using online collaborative maps as tools to assist in the planning and redevelopment processes of public spaces, having in mind the use of data supplied by the users of these spaces. It was considered the use of applications that allow dynamic record of spatial incidents reported by users on specific tools, enabling the concentration and view of these occurrences as data geographically located on a map. In order to do so, similar experiments using collaborative systems based on online maps were surveyed. The main themes addressed are web maps and collaborative platforms, universal design, environmental assessment strategies and redevelopment of public spaces. The method adopted is case study, having as object the use of the Ushahidi application for environmental assessment of the Pampulha Campus of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) under universal design, habitability, accessibility and risks parameters, followed by urban renewal proposals created from that assessment. The mapping of environmental incidents was performed in site by UFMG´s Architecture and Urbanism undergraduate students. The aim of this study is to broaden the understanding of these technologies and their potential for transforming the process of embedding information originated by the users in planning and redevelopment processes of public spaces.
