Resumo: The present study aimed to investigate the meanings of the participation in social leisure projects of teenagers from Aglomerado da Serra, located at Belo Horizonte, MG. For that, we studied the area and the social leisure projects present; the trajectories of young participants and identify their expectations concerning the projects. Through field research, individual semi structured interviews were conducted with 14 teenagers, engaged in 6 projects. Then, we conducted a collective interview, called "talk circle", that made it possible to discuss and think about emerging topics during the interviews. The speeches were interpreted as a narrative and, therefore, as life stories. The analysis was interpreted as "speech analysis", since it valued the verbal processes and tried to find meanings in the words. With this, the teenagers actively reflected about three main topics: social inequality and leisure; Aglomerado da Serra: advantages and disadvantages; Social projects: trajectories and expectations. Those topics were developed throughout the three chapters of the dissertation and, in general, they have shown that young people mean the world where they live and they are social actors that recognize leisure as a fundamental right. As citizens, they perceive the prejudice against favelas and its inhabitants, inequality of access to human rights, specifically, to leisure and existence of social projects directed to the youth as a way to use their free time with something considered good. In addition to this subjectivation, the teenagers perceived the projects as possibilities: of learning, having fun, as protection, access to culture, fostering friendship, performing physical exercise and professional opportunities. We hope that this study will stimulate a progressive path towards building a "common world" of "reciprocities" and "active citizenship".
