Resumo: | The research aims on identifying, describing and analyzing the characteristics of the scientific journals created in Minas Gerais in the 90s. The theoretical grounds include authors and their understandings on Scientific Communication, Communication Channels and Scientific Journals. The research is descriptive and exploratory with quantitative and qualitative approach. The corpus gathers the scientific journals sample that meet three criteria: evidencing the scientific communication character, originated in the state of Minas Gerais and created in the 90s. The documentary research method adopted here used the following data collection sources: the ISSN Brazilian Centre, the Brazilian National Librarys Collective Catalogue, and the Higher Education Institutions Libraries in the country. The data collection instruments were the Scientific Journals from Minas Gerais in the 90s. The data analysis followed these analysis categories: journal title, year, type of media, ISSN, periodicity, origin (city and mesoregion), publisher, scientific editorial structure and subject (journal topic). For the analysis and treatment of the data collected, and the elaboration of the graphics and tables, Microsoft® Excel®, Iramuteq e QGIS software were used. The research identified 198 scientific journals created in Minas Gerais in the 90s. The main confirmations were: a) most of the journals inform the subject on the title (unlike the present scientific journals); b) the years of 1997, 1998 and 1999 concentrated 47% of the production in the decade; c) 33% published in electronic version (demonstrating the technology adherence); d) few did not request the ISSN; e) most published twice a year (same as actual days); f) with a high standard deviation among mesoregions in the state, most are from the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte and a three location scientific publication was not identified; g) the Higher Education Institutions are the great producers of the state, highlighting the Federal University of Minas Gerais and the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais; h) theres a diversification in the editorial board nomenclature and most of its members are male; i) and the more recurrent subjects were Education, Law and History. |
