Resumo: | The reduction of urban green areas, and the consequential loss of their benefits constitute a relevant issue of our time, discussed both by academia and society. With the rapid growth of large urban centres, the appropriate distribution of green areas has important practical implications on the balance and quality of life. However, this is not taken into account by the current Master Plans in Brazil, which prioritise the creation and regulation of built-up areas, to the detriment of the management, maintenance, creation and protection of urban green areas. The goals of this study are thus presented in the form of the guiding hypothesis that those Master Plans do not guarantee urban environmental quality regarding the inclusion of vegetation cover, for two reasons. Firstly, they regulate only the built-up volume, overlooking the necessary green volume. Secondly, they fail to manage the insertion of vegetation in the urban complex by the citizens, who hardly contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the environment by improving their individual lots not only two-dimensional but also volumetric. Considering this hypothesis, our study was written as a methodological essay containing steps for the characterisation, analysis, and inclusion of vegetation cover parameters that envisage the potential use and occupation of a land. Making use of the concepts of Landscape Ecology, and Green Infrastructure, it comprehends case studies in different scales and free access data infrastructure required to carry out the analyzes and propositions, recognizing the different realities existing in Brazil in relation to geo-information technologies, aiming for the inclusion of this issue in the municipal Master Plans. The main result of this thesis is a Methodological Script for Diagnosis and Propositions for Uses, Vocations, and Allocations of Urban Green Areas replicable the various Brazilian realities, serving as a subsidy for the creation of regulations for urban green areas not only volumetric but also for ideal arboreal unit per lot to be considered in the Master Plans. |
