Resumo: | This dissertation sought to carry out a historical survey and a critical review of the Alternative Climate Control System implemented by the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI), considering the Storage Room Curt Nimuendajú (RT) of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG) in the city of Belém to Pará. The climate system was installed in 2003 and monitored by the GCI until 2008, after the obtained data in this period, there were no studies that gets deeper in the performance of the system - the publications in subsequent years to 2008 consider only the results obtained between 2003 and 2008 - and neither a survey of the current microclimatic conditions of RT was provided. The actions of Preventive Conservation and Environmental Management, which foresee practices for the reduction of damages in the short and long term, aiming at the greater permanence of the musealized patrimonial assets are adopted as theoretical basis. The research is qualitative and quantitative, and bibliographical surveys were carried out as methodologies, external and internal data collection of relative humidity and temperature, interviews, analysis of documents safeguarded in the RT and direct observation of the cultural heritage. Therefore, from the results obtained, we conclude that the climate control system has worked according to the proposed by the GCI, however, the management of the RT directed to the system presents failures related mainly to the people management, the non-continuous monitoring and critical analysis of the obtaineddata, precisely knowledge for equipment revision and inaccessibility of materials to support components of the implanted system. Therefore, it is important to continue the study of the objects behavior, microenvironment study and establishments of management protocols to determine the viability of this alternative system of climate control in the long term. |
