Resumo: | Introduction: Dizziness is one of the most common reasons for patients seeking medical appointment in Primary Health Care (PHC). Vestibular Rehabilitation (VR) is a conventional treatment method in peripheral balance disorders, its effectiveness is proven in reducing symptoms and improving the functional capacity of individuals. Its believed that Lian Gong, due to its peculiar characteristics, is also beneficial to users with peripheral vestibular alterations, thus reducing the impact of dizziness on the quality of life and maximizing the functional capacity of these subjects. Objective: To systematize the results of research on the scientific evidences of VR at the primary level of health care, as well as to test the effectiveness of two methods of treatment - Conventional (Vestibular Rehabilitation) and complementary / integrative (Lian Gong) as strategies of rehabilitation of the user with dizziness in APS. Methods: Twostep research. 1) Systematic Review: Controlled studies were reviewed through a critical analysis of the contents and methodological quality analyzed according to the Pedro scale. 2) A two-arm parallel randomized clinical trial with a sample of 36 users, investigating the impact of dizziness on quality of life and the concern of users to fall through the Brazilian Dizziness Handicap Inventory- Brazilian DHI and the Self- Efficacy for falls (FES-I) before and after treatment. Results: 1) Five studies were reviewed in their entirety, (n = 5). The Vertigo Symptom Scale (60%) and the Visual Analogue Scale (40%) were the instruments used to evaluate the subjective perception of the symptomatology of vestibular dysfunction. The most used intervention proposal was based on the Yardley exercises (60%). 2) Lian Gong was effective in reducing the impact of dizziness on participants' quality of life in physical, functional and emotional aspects. VR was effective in reducing the emotional impact of dizziness on the quality of life of users in PHC. The concern about the fall of participants within the study did not decrease significantly after treatment. Conclusion: Controlled studies provide evidence of positive effects of RV in PHC, with improvements without control, functional functionality and quality of life of participants. Lian Gong is an effective alternative in the treatment of people with dizziness in PHC. |
