The present study aims at getting to know and understanding which are the implications for school management and teacher work organization in schools of fundamental education of the public system of education, coming from the adoption of the public-private partnership between the City Hall of Santo Antônio do Amparo and Fundação Pitágoras, during the years from 2007 to 2010. Concerning the objectives of the study, we have carried out the research using qualitative data gathering methods (documents, observation and semi-structured interview). We have found that the public-private partnership strategy have strongly impacted on the management of the public schools and on the teachers work, implanting a mercantile, tecnicist, generalist, effective and efficient logic, disseminating the rules of competitiveness, evaluation and accountability, what has contributed to the privatizing of school management for the intensification of the teacher work.
