Resumo: This work focuses on investigating the compositional process of "Cartas Celestes II" – a work for piano, by Almeida Prado, which is part of one of the cycles of piano compositions of great relevance to Brazilian music and culture. The studies developed aimed at the understanding of the organized system of resonances, and the creation of alphabet chords. In addition, we sought to confirm the hypothesis that these chords would be based on harmonic series, and could be scattered throughout the work in configurations different from the original ones. The understanding of these factors was aided by the use of Openmusic software as a music analysis tool. The results found in all phases helped in the creation of a musical interpretation based on valuing the characteristic sonorities of the piece. The study also demonstrates the influence of the thought of composers such as Messiaen e Ligeti in the musical conception of Almeida Prado in Cartas Celestes II. A video was created which is composed of music and images, sometimes abstract, sometimes concrete, related to the celestial visual universe that also inspired the aforementioned work.
