Taxonomias corporativas: um estudo sobre definições e etapas de construção fundamentado na literatura publicada

Resumo: The present research was based on the observation of the myriad of content under the term taxonomy and the methodologies for building them, according to many sources. It is well known that this concepts is widely used in many scientific and technological domains, and among those, Information Science. It aims to present an analytical study about definitions and methodologies for building corporate taxonomies, based on the literature and the ANSI/NISO Z39.19 standard. It also aims to a) present a comprehensive definition based on these sources and contribute for the discussion over the concept in the Information Science field; b) compare the definitions found with the steps of the methodologies for building corporate taxonomies; c) Identify and selectdefinitions of corporate taxonomies. The method used is the analytical-synthetic and the study have used 30 definitions found in the literature and 11 methodologies for building taxonomies, that were analyzed under the following categories: a) Type: origin, use andelaboration; b) Essence: features, classification structure and terminology and c) Uses, applications and purposes: potential and information management. The results can contribute to shed a light on methodological standards to build corporate taxonomies using the theoretical and methodological principles from Information Science, Computer Science and Management Sciences. The research resulted in two proposals: a definition and taxonomy of other stages of construction of taxonomies
