Resumo: | The risk of the introduction of exotic illnesses or more virulent kinds of endemic diseases through the transference of embryos is a constant concern, affecting the international commercial relationships. The objective of this study was to investigate the presence of the BHV-1 virus, causer of the IBR, in the bovine folicular fluid and cumulus-oocytes complexes in naturaly infected animals of form. Positive animals (n= 38) and negatives (n=8)animals were selected for IBR. The cumulus-oocytes complexes and folicular fluid were obtained by ovum pick-up (OPU) and the research of the virus made through PCR. The viral DNA was not found in the samples. In conclusion the use of positive animals for BHV-1 in the IVP, is acceptable for animals not in the acute phase of the illness, and the existence of a negative cumulus-oocytes complexes in a PIV system does not mean that the donator is negative for the illness, therefore a protocol for commercialization of embryos and germ cells must take in account the serological profile of the donators. |
