This thesis aims to demonstrate how, during the Civil-Militar Brazilian dictatorship, the writer Rubem Fonseca uses several mechanisms and artifices that go back to the category of biopolitics as it was developed by Michel Foucault and later by Giorgio Agambem. We understand that such artifices tend to be perceived as a writing resistance movement to the state of exception and to the moment of great social tension that the nation was going through. Thus, we intend to demonstrate, by reading the short stories, how elements with a strong connection with the biopolitical issue - like the body, violence and sexuality - become central in writing, ordering and transforming it, in an important response of cultural movements to the dictatorial period and all its mechanisms of social control.
