A educação física em cena: olhares sobre o Colégio Estadual de Minas Gerais (1956-1973)

Resumo: This paper investigated the scholarization process of the Physical Education subject at the Colégio Estadual de Minas Gerais. Its intention was to understand the design of the subject in this institution with its routines, schedules, teachers, contents, spaces and available materials, among other elements that make it. The understanding of those elements allowed the formation of a narrative about the history of the subject Physical Education of the Colégio Estadual, between the years of 1956 and 1973. In 1956, first year researched, there was the opening of the new building of the school, projected by the architect Oscar Niemeyer. From the opening of this building we can see two phases that changed the way the school was structured: until 1964 a school with its activities taking place in the building recently inaugurated and after 1964, with the building of the Escolas Anexas, that functioned in other neighborhoods and had as intention to increase the number of elementary school vacancies at the Capital. We realized that this structure allowed a new organization of the institution and, also, the circulation of other people in the place. The Escolas Anexas became independent in the year of 1973, what marked the end of the time frame for this paper. In the investigation sources of different and kinds and nature were mobilized, like newspaper news researched at the Hemeroteca Publica Luiz de Bessa, the documents of the archive of the Escola Estadual Governador Milton Campos (statute of institution, class diaries, classes schedules, list of teachers, check in book, minutes book and photographs), the archive of CEMEF-UFMG (Bulletin of Physical Education, classes plans of admission exams and documents from the personal archives). Besides, interviews were conducted with individuals who took part on the institution`s history, seven men and one woman, former students and former teachers, which constituted the oral sources. The crossing of sources allowed us to say that the Physical Education at Colégio Estadual was singular. It was marked by two phases: one by the year 1964, which demonstrates a process of structuring and organization of the subject, called by the former students as messed and another, after the year 1963, which matches with the opening of Escolas Anexas of the Colégio Estadual. In this second phase we notice a systematization of the school subject, with schedules, contents and more defined routines. In this situation, one content gained relevance. The sports activities were present during the physical education classes, distributed into seasons and in various students sports championships, with highlighted participation of teams from Colégio Estadual. Its important to notice that this sport that was practiced emphasizing principles of education and socialization of young people, since competitions and physical performance have not been highlighted as the main goal. Therefore, it was possible to perceive that the constitution of Physical Education, was related with the city's sports practices and the teachers formation in the Capital, which provided a unique conformation for that subject in the Colégio Estadual de Minas Gerais.
