The purpose of this paper is to investigate the question of affectivity in Clarice Lispectors literary work through the main analysis of her first novel, Perto do coração selvagem. In order to achieve this goal, a theoretical study of emotions has firstly been written with the intent of grounding the concepts that compose the affective universe, in addition to their consequential sociocultural senses. Espinosas theory of affects, emotions philosophical tradition, contemporary sociocultural studies and Psychologys definitions were approached. Afterwards, taking Lispectors work in a general perspective, an analysis of the emotional element in this literature is presented, aiming to comprehend the role that these affectionate notions play in the authors literary process. Finally, the reading of Perto do coração selvagem occurs under the lens of affectivity, identifying the multiple meanings of affect in the story chosen as study object.
