Resumo: | By the microscopic agglutination test with 17 live antigens of leptospiras, 1,562 bovine sera from 28 municipalities of the State of Rio de Janeiro were examined. Positive reactions with titres starting at 1:100 were observed in 21.85% of the será, involving mainly wolfii, tarassovi, grippotyphosa, pomona, bratislava serotypes and Mm-2 strain. The most elevated titres were found with the Mm-2 strain (1:102,400) and the serotypes wolfii (1:12,800) and pomona (1:3,200).Co-agglutination were also observed. In 54 of 64 farms studied (84.37%), cows with positive reactions were observed. The prevalence of reactive animals were more hight in the regions up to an altitude of 400m. The municipalities of the higest prevalence of positive reactions were those of Cabo Frio, Miracema, Nova Iguaçu and Macaé. The utilization of pools of sera in the screening of the positive sera was very useful, as it signified and economy in time and material. |
