Resumo: In the present work, a comparative study of deflections and material consumption was carried out in the supporting structures of the load-bearing wall of three small buildings. In each of these buildings different structural solutions were adopted. Initially, three conventional solutions using slabs, beams and columns were studied in which the beams supported almost all the masonry. The first had no cantilever, the second had a onemeter long cantilever approximately, and the third had a two-meter long cantilever approximately. Then, a solution using a few beams and large slabs supporting directly the masonry was adopted. Finally, a solution in which beams were used only along theperimeter was adopted the slabs were supported directly by the columns. In all solutions, the number of columns in each building was kept constant in order to compare appropriately the deflections and material consumption. Based on the results, a comparative analysis of the deflection and material consumption was performed andexplanations were given to justify the differences among the results. Additionally, by the end of the work, the structure with the most significant deflection was selected and then, four stories of masonry were added to it in order to perform a finite element analysis using the commercial software ANSYS, aiming to evaluate the influence of the structures deflection on the walls.
