Resumo: | The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of corn with different forms of processing, in the diet of dairy cows on rotating pasture system Panicum maximum cv. Mombasa. Twelve crossbred dairy cows in lactation were used in a 4x4 Latin Square design with three replications. The treatments consisted of partial replacement of ground dry corn grain for three different processed corn. The experimental diets were designated, MM (finely ground dried corn), ME (expanded corn), MF (steam flaked corn) and MU (re-hydrated corn silage). The intake of grass was higher when cows were supplemented with MF, which resulted in higher DM, CP, NDF. The apparent digestibility of DM was higher for diet MF (66.6%) compared with diets ME and MU (64.3 and 63.7%) and did not differ between MM (64.3%). The apparent digestibility of NDF was lower for diet MU (45.0%) than MM and MF diets (52.1 and 51.9%). Milk yield and milk composition did not differ between treatments. The lowest ruminal pH was found right after concentrate offer. Blood parameter, purine derivatives excretion in urine and nitrogen balance did not differ between treatments. |
