The present study aims at exploring M. T. Cicero's participation at Roman Civil War and, throughout the letters, understanding his personal perspective in face of antagonic forces headed by C.J. Caesar and G. Pompeius. Therefore we bring forward a general study on the status of epistolography in the ancient world and a historical literary overview of the transmission of Cicero's letters. Along with an evaluation of different aspects of his political conception we oppose the subject in the letters to his his public life. This way we seek to get elements from his private life which may contribute to offer a historical, political and social viewpoint of the prior movements and of the development of Civil War started by Caesar against Roman Republic.
