Resumo: The work consisted of analysis of 425 questionnaires completed by carters, 19 Units Receiving Small Packages, Program participants to generate income for employment in the informal sector developed in partnership by the Veterinary School of UFMG and Municipal Government Belo Horizonte. The collected variables were the independent variable accident at work and regressive variables age of the carter, the number of children, place of birth, educational level, working time, the former professional activity, if the portfolio of work was signed, weekly income, type of material transported on public roads used during labor and the carter was the owner of the cart. Among the regressive variables that had significant effect on the increased probability of occurrence of the accident were: working time, education and the carter was the owner of the cart. The results indicated that with increasing level of education decreased the probability of occurrence of the accident. Greater probability of accidents at work were also observed in classes with greater working time, and the owners of the cart.
