Resumo: At this work, it was sought to show that in the search of a shapeable material and regarding to the demands of modeling and volume in a sculpture, in what forms and volumes referred to the art, the paper of banana tree appears with excellent possibilities. Confronting the tacit and scientific knowledge involved in its manufacturing, it was obtained as a result the hegemony of structures on which one subsist to the other. It means that what was recognized as tacit ends up providing scientific investments on the search of better results. Therefore, the knowledge of influences regarded to the moon cycles, either in the harvest process as in the amount of input volume, make us accept and admit that such influences are definitive on the results obtained in productivity and quality of the craft paper. The systemic prove of techniques presence and of savoir fare on paper art, since its origin, until its utilization on arts, provides the parameters for the work of counterpoint between art and craft, placing it on the limit between the simple making of the artisan and the thinking and making of the artist. The scientific confrontations develops in this academic paper prove the efficacy of a popular behavior, which once systematic, is enough to obtain optimum and definitive results compared to the advocated by academic science.
