Resumo: This essay presents a research on the procedures used by Arthur Bispo do Rosário for the elaboration and creation of his visual works and in order that this study can be applied in the collection preservation. The research illustrates the constructive methods developed by the artist, with the identification of some of his operative manners. The justification for this study is based on the susceptibilities regarding the dessociation and loss of structural components as well as objects that make up his visual works, also justified by the risks of different interpretations and interferences that may occur in procedures required for the collection preservation. The vulnerabilities regarding the works of Arthur Bispo do Rosário present are potencialized by the precariousness of the materials and techniques that compose part of his craft as well as the complexity of the way these materials were handled by the artist himself. The methodology applied for the accomplishment of his work was based on bibliographical and documentary survey about the artist's history and his production, seeking to contextualize the circumstnces in which the works were constructed, followed by an in loco research, wihch consisted of descriptive analyzes and photographic documentation. Besides the record that is produced when photographic, analyzing, searching, comparing and speaking about the construction methods used by the artist, the research becomes an important tool for preservation by presenting information that can elucidate some aspects to be considered especially for the collection's conservation-restoration practices.
