Resumo: This study aims to investigate, fromthe perspective of adolescents in compliance, the socioeducational measure of commitment. For this purpose, we tried to identify, from the adolescents' speech, what has been possible to offer throughout the execution of this measure, if the space of the measure allows an "exit", not in the idealized patterns, but if a reflection on the practice is possible, thus allowing a more conscious choice. Interviews with adolescents were conducted in two socio-educational units of Belo Horizonte. In this work, we discussed the concept of socioeducation, the legal framework related to the juvenile criminal liability, the criminalization of specific portion of population, the socio-educational measure of commitment for an indeterminate period of time and the obstacles for the accomplishment of the proposed axes. Such discussion constitutes the background on which we seek to listen to the adolescents in order to know how they experience the deprivation of liberty. From the results obtained, it was possible to identify the difficulty of the adolescents to provide a critical analysis about the condition of deprivation of liberty, as well as the difficulty of subjectivation of these subjects that in several moments repeat an institutionalized speech. The findings of this research point to a gap between what is advocated in the special legislation and the reality experienced in the institutions. Despite the advances, deprivation of liberty institutions are still spaces where punitive actions often overlap socio-educational actions, repeating the violence experienced by these young people in other spaces. We consider that confronting violence demands the construction of joint actions involving different actors and sectors of the State and civil society, with the objective of effectively implementing a protection network that reaches the vulnerability conditions in which large portions of the population are found, specially our children and young people.
