Resumo: This paper aims mainly the color control of digital images throughout the process that goes from digitalization to printing, passing through visualization. With the growth of computer use, mainly from the nineties, one can see the migration from the analogic applications usages towards the digital ones, which had its wide use starting with the text edition softwares, as the latter typewriter became obsolete. By using digital images rather than analogical ones, the exchange feasibilities increased, particularly after the world computer net (Internet) was introduced. The electronic image duplicate becomes exact. In case it is printed, it may also be exact, depending on the procedures that are applied. Color preservation may happen depending on the digital file format used, as well as on the configurations selected. The study conducted throughout this work goes from the very start of the light formation up to the practical implementation of color management, passing through the conceptual color analysis, light sources, color temperature, human visual system, color models, devices to assess color, profiling (adjustment that leads to proper digitalization), color configuration in a software for digital image edition, theoretical and practical constraints for the color use, etc. In order to implement color management, different equipaments were necessary to measure color, reference targets for calibration and device characterization, computer, printer, digitalization equipments, etc. As an experiment for the system implementation, a water color picture was used. The obtained results, using about nearly forty persons placed at a minimum visual distance of two meters, showed that no differences between the original image and the printed one could be perceived, corroborating the possibility to digitialization, documentation and printing, pointing out color accuracy, all over process accomplishment.
